AMON AMARTH – Jomsviking Review

AMON AMARTH – Jomsviking
Metal Blade Records
Even though I’m a melodic death metal freak, I’ve not heard enough of this band their discography “Jomsviking” is the only other album I’ve heard from theirs aside from “Deceiver of the Gods”. I am impressed with the music and I like the vocals too. The lyrics were well written too, even though I’m not into their concepts (Vikings, etc.), but still the vocals accompanied the guitars just right. One helluv a guitar frenzy.

DEVIL DRONE - Erebo Review

DEVIL DRONE   - Erebo
Cave Canem D.I.Y
I’m going to start this presentation in an unorthodox way and will comment on the excellent packaging of this work. The digipack is superb, the artwork and everything around it indicates a professional release coming out of one of the big labels. Still DEVIL DRONE have released this on their own with the help of Cave Canem which is a Do It Yourself company. So, kudos guys on the kick ass work. The production is also noteworthy since it has the necessary volume and power while it still allows all the instruments to be equally heard.

WITCHUNTER - Back on the Hunt Review

WITCHUNTER - Back on the Hunt
Blasphemous Art Productions
Six years have already passed? The debut album of this Italian band was released in 2010 under the title “Crystal Demons” and I think that it is one of the first new bands that had this strong N.W.O.B.H.M. feeling in their sound. The band exists since 2007.  For reasons unknown to me the band after 6 years decided to strike back with its sophomore album and I was really anxious to listen to it.

INCARNATE – Hvman Svffering Review

INCARNATE – Hvman Svffering
Cold Church Studios
Here in Greece we say that sometimes an obstacle can lead you to good results and I think this is what happened to INCARNATE from the Netherlands. The band wanted after their 2011 full length release entitled ““Hands of Guilt / Eyes of Greed” to work on an EP release, but they put this project on hold because their singer left the band. INCARNATE decided to focus on composing songs and in August 2014 the vocalist Martijn Geelhoed (ex-REMAINS) joined the band and in the summer of 2015 the band entered to studio to record this release that I am about to present to you.

WARBRINGER - Woe to the Vanquished Review

WARBRINGER - Woe to the Vanquished
Napalm Records
This, by far is the best WARBRINGER release that I've heard!! The production isn't raw, it's well mixed, the vocals are better (not so annoying), and the music is fresh. Totally awesome thrash metal release by this band. The music was what made it stand apart from the rest of their releases. These guys are a 5-piece band and I think their guitarists totally rip on leads. The energy is all there and pretty original sounding riffs. Everything fit well together. The only complaint that I have is that it wasn't a longer album. But I guess 40 minutes of these guys’ music is enough.

FABIANO ANDREACCHIO AND THE ATOMIC FACTORY – Living Dead Groove Review

FABIANO ANDREACCHIO AND THE ATOMIC FACTORY – Living Dead Groove
Sliptrick Records
Italy proves to have a prolific underground scene that is here to match each and every taste out there. Fabiano Andreacchio and his mates The Atomic Factory are here to please some more specific and peculiar tastes in music. Pinpointing their style is hard to do simply because they are all over the place. However, the foundation of their sound is modern and experimental with lots of grooves and electronic elements.

THE RAPTOR TRAIL is a fantastic 3 piece melodic band from the USA. They have existed for 25 years and there is a musical bridge between Southern rock and psych prog rock.

DEATHVALVES - Dark Stories from the Past Review

DEATHVALVES - Dark Stories from the Past
New Dream Records
It seems that Southern metal is not only what comes from the States. It seems that we have here too some heavy metal hillbillies and they are DEATHVALVES from the town of Karditsa (Greece).
The band exists from 2006 and they have already released 2 full length albums in 2007 and 2012. The new release that I am about to present to you is their third full length album and was released in 2016.

MEGADETH – So Far, So Good…So What! Review

MEGADETH – So Far, So Good…So What!
Capitol Records
This album I think is why I stopped listening to MEGADETH for the longest time without trying other platters that they laid out, including their latest release “Dystopia.” It’s really flat-production sounding and riffs that are just stale. It’s not nearly as good as “Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying?”, I think that they really failed on this one. I’ve come to the same conclusion numerous times around trying to get to like it but not being able to do so.

DOMINANCE – XX: The Rising Vengeance Review

DOMINANCE – XX: The Rising Vengeance
Sliptrick Records
Most people recognize Italy as the country whose metal bands are mainly focused on neoclassical, progressive and power metal paths; however, the truth is that there is a really strong and thriving extreme underground scene. I’ve been involved for a long time, but I still get the chance to discover hidden gems and DOMINANCE is such an example. Having formed in 1992, “XX: The Rising Vengeance” is their third studio release that came out after a seven year gap from their sophomore work “Echoes of Human Decay”. Now, let’s move to what’s really important here and the main point of this presentation which is the music itself and more particularly the one featured here.
