HANIWA – Helleven Review

HANIWA – Helleven
Qua Rock Records
HANIWA come from Florentine, Italy and I think that this is their first studio album.  As a band they might be a new one, but the three musicians that are part of HANIWA have a long experience with other bands that were moving in the wide spectrum of metal and rock music. I think that all these experiences led them to create the sound of HANIWA.

It is easy to tag the band under the genre of groove/modern metal, but I think that these three words can’t describe exactly the music they create. In my opinion their sound is full of energy and grooves. The band combines elements from both the traditional and modern sound. I can say that the band has a lot of grooves in its sound and when they become more aggressive they definitely flirt with thrash metal. But that is not all, since there are times that HANIWA move to melodic fields, without ever losing their energy, and blend their sound with some traditional metal elements.

“Helleven” is an album that has variety and never tires the listener. I think that people who love groove metal will enjoy HANIWA.
